Hampden-Sydney Music Series

Hampden-Sydney College will be hosting several musicians in 2016-17. The music series comprise of classical and acoustical music, is part of Hampden-Sydney's continuing commitment to the intellectual and cultural enrichment of the Southside community. All events are open to the public.

"Wonder Full: New Music of Awe and Inspiration," a cappella works by Barber, Pärt, Alain, Mäntyjarvi, Arlen and others

The Piedmont Singers is a choral music project directed by Professor Helena von Rueden. The ensemble is made up of eight professional vocalists from the central Virginia area, singing a cappella choral music. This season, the Singers will perform 20th century works from American, French, and Baltic composers, as well as a set of familiar folk and jazz arrangements. The Piedmont Singers project is sponsored by Hampden-Sydney College.

Park in any visitor or open parking spots on the campus and along Via Sacra, where "Event Parking" is listed, or in the lot behind the church.

Suggested $15 donation  
Limited street parking is available near Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  A more reliable location is the St. James Episcopal Church free parking lot, located at the corner of W Franklin and Ryland Streets, a short walk to Bethlehem Lutheran.

American Acoustic Music Series: Ramblin' Jack Elliott

American Acoustical Music Series
Grammy Award winning songwriter Ramblin' Jack Elliott is a master of many genres including blues, country, and folk. He learned from Woody Guthrie, and mentored Bob Dylan, and he is truly an American musical legend.

University of Richmond performers, President Ronald A. Crutcher and Joanne Kong, present a recital including Schumann's Fantasiestücke Op. 73, the Debussy Sonata, Brahms Sonata in e minor, and Alvin Singleton's Argoru II for solo cello.
