Learning at Hampden-Sydney doesn't have to stop in the summer. Enroll in May Term courses to boost your GPA, catch up or get ahead on course credits, and experience unique classes not offered during the traditional academic year. Courses are offered on campus, off-campus, and online.

If you choose to study abroad or away during May Term, visit the Office of Global Education's H-SC Programs Abroad.

May Term Courses

Beginning one week after Commencement, these special summer courses carry regular academic credit. The maximum load that a student may carry during the May Term is two courses (with any co-requisite laboratories).

May Term 2024 Courses

Class Availability

The College will attempt to offer all courses listed. Insufficient enrollment, however, or other factors beyond the College's control may dictate schedule changes.

Eligibility

Students who are in good standing at Hampden-Sydney or other colleges are eligible for admission to May Term; those on academic suspension from Hampden-Sydney or another institution are  not eligible. Admission to the May Term in no way assures admission to a degree program at Hampden-Sydney College.

Credits earned during the May Term are applicable to degree programs and are transferable to other institutions. Acceptance of May Term credits by other institutions depends on the policy of those institutions. For Hampden-Sydney students on academic probation at the end of the spring semester, grades and quality units for May Term courses have no effect on the probation until the completion of the subsequent semester.
