Coordinator and Academic Advisor: Mr. Brian Burns, Media Librarian
From the early days of Hollywood, the film industry was historically dominated by major studios. Starting in the late 1980s and continuing through the 1990s, independent films began to impact the industry in terms of quality, critical reviews, revenue, and at the awards podium. In this Living and Learning Community, students will be enrolled together in a one-credit seminar examining the rise of the independent film movement. Outside of class, students will attend first-run indie movies in Richmond, and screen classic independent films here on campus.
