Visiting Assistant Professor of Rhetoric
Hampden-Sydney College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Rhetoric, beginning August 2017, to teach courses in our first-year composition program.
The successful candidate will teach seven courses per year; these courses will include some combination of Rhetoric 100, 101, and 102. Our writing classes are capped at 14 students to allow for close student-faculty interaction. Hampden-Sydney's Rhetoric Program-praised and supported by its administration, faculty, and alumni as a central part of the curriculum-was established in 1978 with the mandate that students be able to "write and speak clearly, cogently, and grammatically." A minor in rhetoric offers students extensive study in both writing and speaking.

Research and Instruction Librarian
Hampden-Sydney College is seeking energetic and service oriented professionals to apply for Research and Instruction Librarian. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, support and enhancement of Bortz Library’s instruction, research, and interlibrary loan services. Creating dynamic library instruction materials and sessions, and developing assessment of the library’s instruction program are challenges applicants should be prepared to undertake. Seeking out meaningful collaborations and outreach opportunities with partners on campus will be integral to this position.
This is a full-time, twelve month appointment with special faculty status. The successful candidate will have an MLS / MLIS (or equivalent) degree from an ALA-accredited institution. Three+ years of experience in public services is preferred, including information literacy instruction and assessment, familiarity with online resources, knowledge of collection development in reference and other academic disciplines, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre
Hampden-Sydney College invites applications for a one-year sabbatical replacement in theatre in the Fine Arts Department for the 2017-2018 academic year.
The Department offers a major and minor in theatre as well as courses for the general student population as part of a liberal arts education. We seek a professionally experienced colleague who is excited to collaborate in this vibrant community of artistic activity.

This appointment requires a terminal degree in theatre, evidence of successful teaching at the college level, a promising program of professional development, and scholarship.
