CHEMISTRY: Open to all sub-disciplines but with preference to specialization in bioorganic chemistry or other biochemically-related field. Hampden-Sydney highly values the teacher-scholar model, and the successful candidate must be dedicated to undergraduate teaching and research. Teaching responsibilities depend upon specialty but will include a selection of the following: introductory-level chemistry lecture and laboratory, organic lecture and laboratory, directed research courses with majors, and upper-level offerings. The department operates an established and innovative, four-year project-based laboratory program that provides opportunity for supervising undergraduate research. The department offers the American Chemical Society certified B.S. in chemistry and biochemistry and is also certified by the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Hampden-Sydney College is seeking applicants for a one-year position at the rank of Lecturer (M.A. or M.S.) or Visiting Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) beginning mid-August 2016.
