Social Entrepreneurship Initiative: Offering Sustainable Solutions to Social Problems
The CEPE strives to foster the entrepreneurial spirit in Hampden-Sydney students because we believe that the key to creating a more just and prosperous world is to encourage innovation and action in all aspects of life. As part of that mission, we have developed a special focus on Social Entrepreneurship- the use of sustainable business practices to solve social problems such as poverty alleviation, environmental protection and education. The thread of Social Entrepreneurship runs throughout the Entrepreneurship Program including public lectures by social entrepreneurs such as Jessica Jackley, founder of Kiva.org, CEPE Entrepreneurship Fellows working on social entrepreneurship projects and travel to social entrepreneurship conferences.
