Rucker Snead returned to Hampden-Sydney College in 2004 after retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army to serve as the Associate Dean for Career Education and Vocational Reflection at his alma mater. Previous to that he served for 23 years in the US Army in a variety of assignments both in the United States and abroad. As the Director, he brings a passion for the liberal arts while working with current students and alumni in order to help them prepare for life after college. In addition, he teaches part-time while participating in a number of the College's activities and the local community. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1981 with a BA in Political Science and French. In addition, he received a Masters in Arts in History from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC and Master of Military Arts and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies at Ft Leavenworth, KS.
