Jim Ashby '99

At Hampden-Sydney, Jim was a Head Resident Advisor, served as an honor court investigator and was Vice President of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Jim first became involved in the commercial real estate industry with Grubb & Ellis|Harrison & Bates in 2002. In 2004 he joined Cushman & Wakefield|Thalhimer and is now Vice President specializing in the retail sector. He currently represents a host of landlords and tenants throughout the state and has emerged as an expert in the industry specializing in leasing, user sales, investment sales, development and acquisitions.

Sean graduated with a degree in Biology and Managerial Economics. He is the founder and President of the Peninsula Company LLC, a real estate brokerage and development firm located in Charleston, SC. In addition to sales, Peninsula develops residential neighborhoods, condominiums, office and commercial buildings, their offices are in downtown Charleston.
Jim McVey '89

After graduating from Hampden-Sydney in 1989, Jim started in the real estate business in 1991 and has been with Commonwealth Commercial since 2001. Currently, Jim is head of the Retail Department at Commonwealth, and handles the leasing for shopping centers, such as Cary Court Shopping Center, Kings Charter, Hanover Square, and others. His real estate practice areas include investment sales, landlord representation, fee development, and asset management. Outside of work, Jim is an active member of his church and an avid supporter of anything related to the outdoors.
John Gibson '82

John majored in Economics, was a four year starter on the lacrosse team, holds school records for most career goals and most career points, and was inducted into the H-SC Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994. Before embarking on a career in real estate, John worked as a pricing analyst for a government contractor in Norfolk, VA. He now helps opperates Ellis-Gibson Development Group, a property management and real estate development firm located in Virginia Beach, VA.
Judd McAdams '77

Judd graduated in 1977 as a member of the Lambda Chi fraternity. Judd now works with RED Partners; RED Partners focuses on commercial development including neighborhood and community retail centers, medical offices, historic rehabilitation, and build-to-suit properties.
George graduated in 1994 with a degree in Economics and was a member of the SAE fraternity. Upon graduation, George worked for The Bissell Companies from 1994 to 1997. George continued his career at Aston Properties where he specializes in developing, leasing, managing, and acquiring shopping centers and retail facilities throughout the Southeast.
David Mize '89

David graduated with a B.A. in History in 1989. As a student at H-SC, he was treasurer for the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, a Member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa leadership Honor Society, and served as Secretary Treasurer of the Student Government. He has been a residential real estate broker in Richmond for over 20 years. In that time, David has been named a top producing agent by the Richmond Association of Realtors. Additionally, David has been a top producing Realtor for Long and Foster's Richmond Region for 12 years and has earned both CRS and GRI designations. David manages an office in West Henrico with 2 employees and specializes in the sale of homes, land, and farm properties.
Billy Reid '91

At Hampden-Sydney, Billy studied history and political science, played football, and was a brother of the Kappa Alpha Order. Upon graduating, he worked for U.S. Congressman Tom Bliley and Virginia Governors George Allen and Jim Gilmore. Currently Billy manages the real estate education programs for Moseley Flint Schools of Real Estate and Cape School. These institutions offer real estate, insurance, and mortgage licensing courses.
Fred Larmore '74

Fred was a captain of the baseball team and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He began his real estate career in 1979, becoming a broker in 1983. He has experience working with homebuyers and sellers, was one of the first "buyers agents" in Richmond, has been the marketing/sales manager for numerous builder/developers, and currently assists in leasing retail properties.

John graduated magna cum laude with a major in History. During his time at H-SC, John was a Patrick Henry Scholar, hosted a radio show, worked as a History tutor, and was a TigerRec Team Leader. John was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order as well as Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society. After graduation, John worked as a business analyst for the law firm Brown Greer PLC in Richmond, Virginia. He currently is an Associate with Jones Lang Lasalle in Richmond where he specializes in tenant representation and is a member of the Company's Technology Practice Group.

In addition to sales, Hometown also offers building, development, mortgage, rental, and closing services. They have ten offices that are spread throughout Richmond and Central Virginia, and currently eleven Hampden-Sydney men work on the Hometown team:
