Applying for financial aid to Hampden-Sydney College can be simple if you follow the

Checklist for 2017-2018:

There is no separate application for Hampden-Sydney College academic scholarships. For more information about the Admissions application process, go to Admission and Applications
To expedite the FAFSA process, create your Federal Student Aid identification, FSA ID, for the student and one parent who will provide data on the FAFSA by going to You may complete the FAFSA as early as October 1 but by no later than March 1. The FAFSA online application is available at and Hampden-Sydney’s code is 003713.
If your FAFSA is selected by the federal government for verification or there are any additional documents needed to finalize your financial aid, you will be notified by our office with specific directions on what to do and/or what to submit. Be sure to follow all directions very carefully as soon as possible so we can complete the review and finalize your financial aid.
Once you have been accepted as an incoming student for the 2017-2018 academic year, our office has received your signed and completed FAFSA data, and you have followed up on any requests for additional information, we will send an award letter package beginning in mid-December that will include all financial aid being offered (a combination of scholarships, grants, student loans and/or work-study) and any additional steps you need to take to finalize your financial aid. NOTE: If you are an Early Decision Candidate, please submit your FAFSA by no later than December 1, 2016 so that a financial aid award letter can be sent to you prior to the January 15 confirmation date.
We realize some families have extenuating circumstances that make it difficult to pay for college. Extenuating circumstances may include separation, divorce, death, disability, unemployment, change in family’s income reported on original applications, or medical issues. If you have not yet made us aware of such circumstances in your family, please send an e-mail to with a brief description of the circumstances and our office will follow up with you within five business days regarding any additional information needed.

*If you are a current 2016-2017 student who is seeking additional financial aid and has not already completed the FAFSA this year, or a student accepted beginning with the spring 2017 semester, please complete the current 2016-2017 FAFSA at  The Financial Aid Office will follow up with you within two weeks of receiving your processed FAFSA information.
