I hope you are planning to join us for Founders Weekend at The Greenbrier Resort, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, on March 28 – 29, 2014.
A registration table will be set up in the lobby between 3 and 5 pm on Friday. All are invited to The Founders welcome reception at 5:30 pm in the Crystal Room. Afterward you are on your own to explore the old and new dining rooms and restaurants at The Greenbrier, and the night-life throughout the resort. Advance dinner reservations are recommended.
The annual golf outing will be held on Saturday morning. Hampden-Sydney has reserved 24 slots; guests will tee off at 10 am on The Meadows Course. Historic and Architectural tours are offered each day. There are shopping areas inside and near the resort. The Greenbrier Spa is the only Forbes 5-Star Mineral Spa in the world. It is suggested that you reserve a treatment time when you make your room reservations. The Casino Club opens at 11 am daily and will provide entertainment for many throughout the day and evening.
On Saturday we will gather in the Crystal Ballroom for cocktails at 6 pm, followed by dinner in the Chesapeake Room. That evening our guest, Jay Fielden, Class of 1992, Editor-in-Chief of Town & Country Magazine, will share his journey and experiences since leaving Hampden-Sydney.
This invitation, as well as our corresponding website, includes all the information you need to make your travel plans. Please call the toll-free Hampden-Sydney line at The Greenbrier to make your reservation. A special room rate of $199 a night will be honored until February 11, 2014, or until rooms are no longer available. Then return the reservation card in this invitation so we will know you intend to join us.
If you have questions about the activities or room reservations, please call Candy Dowdy (434) 223-7140. I look forward to seeing you on March 28 – 29.
With best wishes,
John C. Ellis, Jr. '70
