I hope you have reserved the date and plan to join us for Founders Weekend at The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort in Cambridge Maryland, on March 27 - 29, 2015. A number of you may even want to extend your stay and arrive a day early! If you wish to arrive by boat you can reserve a slip when you make your room reservation.
A registration table will be set up in the lobby between 3 and 5 pm on Friday. Please check in there for a detailed schedule and a list of all guests. Guests are invited to the welcome reception at 5:30 pm at the Regatta Pavilion. Afterward you are on your own to explore in-house and local dining. This will be a great opportunity to explore and experience the regional cuisine in many of the casual and upscale restaurants in the area. Advance reservations are recommended for many of the locations.
The annual golf outing will be held on Saturday morning. Hampden-Sydney has reserved 24 slots; guests will tee off at 10 am on The River Marsh course. The small towns of Cambridge, Easton, and St. Michaels provide specialty shops, museums, and fun dining for Saturday adventures. The area abounds with wildlife which can be viewed from the walking or biking trails. Or you can reserve a special treatment at the Sago Spa and Salon.
On Saturday evening we will gather at the Grand Fireplace Patio for cocktails at 6 pm, followed by dinner in the Chesapeake Room.
This invitation, as well as our corresponding website, includes all the information you need to make your travel plans. Please call the toll-free Hampden-Sydney line at The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina to make your reservation. A special room rate of $189 a night will be honored until February 27, 2015, or until rooms are no longer available. Then return the reservation card in this invitation so we will know you intend to join us.
If you have questions about the activities or room reservations, please call Candy Dowdy (434) 223-7140. I look forward to seeing you on March 27 - 29.
With best wishes,
John C. Ellis, Jr. '70
