Hampden-Sydney College

Letter from the President

President HowardI continue to be pleased and amazed at the outpouring of support Hampden-Sydney College alumni, parents, faculty, staff, friends, and students show for this great institution. Your contributions maintain the academic standards for which the College is well known and the atmosphere of our beautiful campus. They allow our faculty to concentrate on educating young men, both in and out of the classroom. Your gifts keep Hampden-Sydney College the vital, vibrant place whose esteemed history has assured its position as a national treasure.

The past twelve months on campus have been amazing. Josh Miller '10 and Bret Chonko '11 were named ESPN The Magazine-COSIDA Academic All Americans. The football team advanced to the national tournament after winning the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship. Adam O'Donnell '12 was named the inaugural recipient of the prestigious Sullivan Scholarship, given to a rising junior dedicated to service to the community. This fall, acclaimed writer and director Scott Cooper '92 returned to campus to screen his award-winning film Crazy Heart.

Hampden-Sydney College continues to face challenges and must remain committed to the wise use of resources. One result is this very brochure. In previous years, we have printed and mailed a booklet containing the names of donors to the College. This year, we are making this information available exclusively online. Please visit www.hsc.edu/Gifts-2010.html to learn more about those who support H-SC. Whether acknowledged in print or online, all contributions are vital and deeply appreciated.

Sincerely,

Christopher B. Howard, President
