More Support Needed for the Hampden-Sydney Fund
In this economic climate, people are looking for a good investment; there are few better than an investment in Hampden-Sydney students. The College is teaming with young men eager to make their mark on the world in business, education, science, religion, public policy, and medicine. They are active in their local communities and informed global citizens. Without a doubt, the future is bright for the next generation of Hampden-Sydney men. We can ensure the continuation of this positive trend by contributing to the Hampden-Sydney Fund and the academic scholarships it supports.

This past year, Hampden-Sydney College alumni, parents, and friends stepped up their efforts to maintain the exceptional educational experience the College provides. There was a significant increase in the percentage of alumni making a financial contribution to the College, and for the second consecutive year we met our goal for The Hampden-Sydney Fund. Not only do our students directly benefit from these added gifts, but also the College's reputation and ranking get a boost.
The Hampden-Sydney Fund provides annual monies for student research opportunities, retention of our remarkable faculty, maintenance of classrooms and residence halls, as well as many other student-oriented functions of the College. However, its greatest impact is likely on student scholarships. Without scholarships, many of Hampden-Sydney's best and brightest students might not have been able to afford college. Scholarships are key to attracting the kinds of young men who make Hampden-Sydney a vibrant academic community.
The Hampden-Sydney Fund is one of the three key funding sources for the College's budget, along with endowment earnings and tuition and fees. Of these three sources, the Hampden-Sydney Fund is the one over which alumni and friends have the greatest influence. Continued support of the Fund will lead to recruitment of outstanding students and maintenance of an outstanding student experience.
