Program Development

Good programs begin with good ideas. But not all good programs receive funding. Before submitting a grant request to external agencies, you may increase the odds of success by making sure that the program or project
  • is central to the College's mission;
  • meets a need;
  • has measurable outcomes;
  • can be soundly administered (i.e., we have the skills and staff to run it);
  • is authorized and can be supported by the College's administration.
Before you seek support, we request that you determine and put in writing
  • the nature of the project and how it will be conducted;
  • the timetable for the project;
  • the anticipated outcomes and how best to evaluate the results; and
  • staffing needs, including deployment of existing staff and new hires.
Because we cannot guess the details of your program, and do not possess your understanding of what you would like to do, we suggest that you create a short draft which includes at least the technical elements.

To help you provide the necessary information to secure authorization for an external grant request, we have included a "Project Summary Form." To access this form, click on "Summary Form" in the left column. Fill it out and click on "Submit" at the end of the form.
Please fill it out and return to the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations.

Please keep in mind that we cannot raise funds for a program that has not been approved by the Dean, Vice President, or President (or the administrative officer in whose area the program falls).  And we cannot complete a proposal if made aware of the need for one only several days before the deadline.
