Level of Academic Challenge (NSSE Benchmark)

The NSSE grouped several survey items that comment on the level of academic challenge students experience during their college years.   Challenging intellectual and creative work is central to student learning and collegiate quality. Colleges and universities promote high levels of student achievement by emphasizing the importance of academic effort and setting high expectations for student performance.

What NSSE suggests

The following NSSE results favorably compare Hampden-Sydney against two comparison groups.

Summary:  Hampden-Sydney students, first-year as well as seniors, rate the academic challenge they experience more highly than do those students from other baccalaureate-granting arts and sciences schools and considerably more than students from the entire population of NSSE respondent schools.
