The Helen S. & Charles G. Patterson, Jr., Charitable Foundation Trust has awarded Hampden-Sydney College a $10,000 grant to further assist in the renovation and expansion of the Esther Thomas Atkinson Museum.  Established in 1997 through the generosity of the late Charles G. Patterson, Jr. and his wife Helen S. Patterson, the Patterson Foundation Trust awards grants to provide financial support for museums, historical sites, churches, and historical societies in Virginia.
