The Apgar Foundation
February 01, 2012
The Apgar Foundation has awarded Hampden-Sydney College a grant of $20,000 to support academic elements of the James Madison Project, an initiative to enrich the education of men for principled citizenship and leadership. The Apgar Foundation's grant will supply vital funding for a speakers' series, a symposium, workshops, and student summer activities.
Founded in 1958 by John N. Apgar, Jr., the Apgar Foundation makes grants to undergraduate programs that increase knowledge of and exposure to aspects of Western and American culture that have been instrumental in creating and sustaining the United States and other liberal democracies. The Foundation wants college faculty and students to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Western and American traditions, institutions, and values.
