Hampden-Sydney is the 10th oldest college in the United States.
Endowment for Student Internships
Back at the College, Drew Prehmus has been Student Body President
and is a star basketball player.
Thanks to help from the Wilson Center for Leadership in the Public Interest and support from the Frischkorn Endowment for Student Internships, Drew prepared summaries of potential appointees, managed schedules, and helped prepare documents used to brief the President of the United States. Drew says, "The most important lessons I learned over the course of the summer were the importance of attention to detail and the value of taking responsibility for one's own work." Endowment funds from the Roy B. Sears Foundation allowed some of our students to intern with the U.S. Department of State's Fulbright Commission, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, UBS Investment Bank, GlaxoSmithKline, Outer Banks Hospital, and the European Parliament-all opportunities which will lead our students along their desired career paths. Increasing the internship opportunities for our students is one goal of Through These Gates: A Campaign for Hampden-Sydney College.
