A Campaign for Hampden-Sydney College

Glen Carter '08 at the border marker where Argentina meets Brazil and Paraguay.
As a junior, Glen spent a five months in Buenos Aires, Argentina, studying Spanish and discovering as much about himself as he did about South American culture. When he wasn't in class, Glen was exploring the barrios, attending the opera, and watching Tango shows in the park. More and more students are choosing international study as a supplement to the liberal arts education they get at Hampden-Sydney. This year alone we have students spending either one semester or the entire academic year in places like France, Ireland, Australia, England, and Israel. Two students will be living aboard ships as they spend a semester at sea. These opportunities to live, study, and grow within a culture other than their own contributes to the complete development of the Hampden-Sydney man. Giving more students the chance to study abroad is one goal of Through These Gates: A Campaign for Hampden-Sydney College.
