Brinkley Challenge
The Brinkley Challenge was created in 2000-01 to honor campus legend and icon Professor of Classics John L. Brinkley '59. The Challenge's main design is to pit the last ten graduating classes together to compete for the coveted "Raising Cane" Award. The main goal of the Brinkley Challenge is to promote awareness among our Young Alumni of the many ways they can help Hampden-Sydney College grow. The Brinkley Challenge helps:
- To connect young alumni to the College.
- To update young alumni information on addresses, emails, and the successes of our younger graduates.
- To increase class participation in the College's Hampden-Sydney Fund.
The Brinkley Challenge has been instrumental in building up our young classes with a network of Class Agents. Since the Challenge's inception in 2000, the Young Alumni of Hampden-Sydney have gifted more than $823,000 to the College. Through the Class Agent system, more young alumni are getting involved in seeing the College grow.
