The Esther Thomas Atkinson Museum and the Department of Fine Arts of Hampden-Sydney College is proud to present, "The Hampden-Sydney Student Fine Arts Exhibition," a unique display highlighting the intermediate level photography and drawing classes of Pamela P. Fox and Professor David D. Lewis of Hampden-Sydney College. The viewer can expect to see highlights of photo essay projects exploring personal and journalistic themes; subjects ranging from an abandoned nuclear fall-out shelter and satellite communications center, to the colorful community of Faith Bible Fellowship church are explored. Also on display will be digital photo collages and large-scale experimental photographic works. Drawing students will present their project entitled "Like A Rock", a selection of mixed media panels that explore a latex resist technique, which is used to convey complex patterns of rock texture. In addition, the exhibit will feature special thesis projects in photography by Hunter Overstreet, Tom Hogge and Ross Wilson.
The exhibit will open on Thursday, May 1, 2003, at 4:30p.m., at the Atkinson Museum, Hampden-Sydney College, and will continue through Sunday, May 11, 2003.
The program is free and open to the public. The Atkinson Museum is located on College Road, Hampden-Sydney, VA, and is accessible to the handicapped. Hours: Tuesday - Friday: 12:30p.m. - 4:30p.m., and other times by appointment. For more information, please contact Lorie Mastemaker at 434-223-6134.
