Hampden-Sydney College Class of 2012, Matt Buchanan recently presented his Summer Research Honors Project in a public presentation at the College.  Matt is one of a select group of students who undertake summer research in conjunction with members of the Hampden-Sydney faculty.  Each project is evaluated on its originality, on the thoroughness of its research methods, and on the quality of its findings.

Matt's project was entitled, "The RED Kryptonite: Story restraints and Cold War culture in the depiction of science in Superman (1950-59)." A history and humanities major, he is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in Mooresboro and is the son of Sharon S. Buchanan of Rutherfordton and Tony Buchanan of Green Hill and the grandson of Jack & Georgianna Smart of Forest City.
