Hampden-Sydney College senior Rayne Delong recently presented his Summer Research Honors Project in a public presentation at the College. Rayne is one of a select group of students who undertake summer research in conjunction with members of the Hampden-Sydney faculty. Each project is evaluated on its originality, on the thoroughness of its research methods, and on the quality of its findings.
Rayne's project was entitled, "The Rostral Thalamic Reticular Nucleus: How Lesions to the Rostral TRN effect performance in rats on a Visual Discrimination Task." A psychology major, he is a graduate of Amherst County High School and Powhatan High School and is the son of Cheryl & Dell Delong of Amelia, previously of Amherst.
