On Sunday, May 13, Hampden-Sydney College will hold commencement exercises marking the end of the College's 237th academic year. Two hundred and twelve seniors will graduate at 10:00 AM on the lawn of Venable Hall.
Award-Winning Sports Commentator
Verne Lundquisthas broadcast extensively for CBS Sports since 1982. He currently serves as the lead play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports' coverage of college football and NCAA Basketball, including the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. Lundquist provides commentary for the Masters and the PGA Championship, among other PGA TOUR events. He was inducted into the National Sportscaster and Sportswriters Hall of Fame in 2007. Lundquist spent eight years at ABC Sports and three years announcing for TNT. During his 16-year tenure as sports director at WFAA-TV in Dallas, for seven consecutive years he won the Texas Sportscaster of the Year Award.
The Baccalaureate Service will be on Saturday, May 12, at 5:00 PM on the lawn of Venable Hall.
The Reverend Dr. Steven E. Frazier
The Rev. Dr. Steven E. Frazier was ordained by the Presbytery of the Grand Canyon in 1987. After twenty years as a full-time pastor, Frazier joined the Pinnacle Group in Virginia Beach, a firm specializing in employee benefits and investments. In 2011 he started his own company, Caris Select. Today, he works with local companies and organizations educating and helping senior adults understand their Medicare and Social Security needs. Frazier continues to be active in congregational ministry and is a Foundation Board member for Edmarc, a hospice program for children. He is the proud father of S. Barron Frazier, a 2012 graduate of Hampden-Sydney.
