Times-Dispatch Editor to Speak 2/8

Danny FinneganThe Richmond Times-Dispatch Editor-in-Chief Danny Finnegan will speak at Hampden-Sydney College on Wednesday, February 8, in conjunction with the initiation of students into the honorary Society for Collegiate Journalists.  His topic will be "The Current State of Journalism."

Finnegan became editor of the Times-Dispatch in June 2011.  He came to the paper in 1987 as a sports copy editor and later became an assistant sports editor, assistant managing editor for night news, and deputy managing editor for photo, graphics, presentation, multimedia and sports.  He worked for the Daily Progress in Charlottesville from 1984 until he came to Richmond in 1987.  

Finnegan is a 1984 graduate of James Madison University, where he spent four years working for the student newspaper, The Breeze, rising to the position of managing editor.  He was a member of the 2005 class of Leadership Metro Richmond and serves on the board of the state chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists.

Free and open to the public, this event will begin at 7:30 PM in the Chairman's Room in Settle Hall.
