On Thursday, April 12, Hampden-Sydney will host author and Visiting Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at Hollins University David Huddle in his presentation, "A Certain Somewhere: A reading from and reflection on his essays, fiction, and poetry."
Huddle is the author of two novels The Story of a Million Years and La Tour Dreams of the Wolf Girl; six poetry collections, including Glory River, Grayscale, and Summer Lake: New and Selected Poems; five volumes of short fiction including Only the Little Bone and Tenorman; and a collection of essays, The Writing Habit. His newest book, Nothing Can Make Me Do This, a novel, was released in October 2011.
A native of Ivanhoe, Virginia, he is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Vermont and a faculty member of the Bread Loaf School of English and the Rainier Writing Workshop.
Free and open to the community, the event begins at 7:30 PM on the 4th Floor of Bortz Library. It is sponsored by the Rhetoric Program and the Lectures & Program Committee at Hampden-Sydney College.
