On Tuesday, April 16, as a part of the Hampden Sydney Music Series, The Fine Arts Department will host Jessica Bowers, mezzo soprano, and Oren Fader on guitar.
Created in 2009, the Bowers/Fader Duo has performed in New York, Rhode Island, Washington State and across the U.S. They perform works by Mozart, Brahms, De Falla, and Weill, in addition to new works written especially for them.
A native of Spokane, WA, mezzo-soprano Jessica Bowers has performed with Utah Opera, Opera Boston, Caramoor Opera, Central City Opera, and Spokane Opera, among others. Her roles include Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro, The Queen in John Harbison's A Full Moon in March, Ruth in Pirates of Penzance, and Mrs. Peachum in Three-Penny Opera. She earned Master's Degrees in opera and voice from New England Conservatory.
Oren Fader is highly regarded as a performer of classical and electric guitar repertoire, solo and chamber, traditional and contemporary. In addition to performing as a soloist, Mr. Fader is in demand as a New York City chamber musician and is well known for his performances of contemporary music. He has premiered or recorded over 400 solo and chamber works with guitar. Mr. Fader received his undergraduate degree from SUNY Purchase and his Master of Music degree from Florida State University.
Free and open to the community, the Bower-Fader Duo performance will begin at 7:30 PM in Crawley Forum on the Hampden-Sydney campus.
