Hampden-Sydney College has been awarded a $250,000 grant by the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Revitalization Commission to create a concept design and presentation materials for enlarging, renovating, and updating its science building.
The concept design is the vital first step in raising funds for a better facility. "We are grateful to the Commission for recognizing the College contributions to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education and its potential for growth in these areas," said President Christopher B. Howard. "Having better science facilities will not only enable us to produce better young scientists and professionals with STEM understanding; it will also improve STEM literacy through the Southside region."
