On Monday, March 17, Dr. Steve Landefeld, Director of the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), will visit Hampden-Sydney College to speak on, "The Intersection of Statistics and Economic Policy."
Landefeld has served as Director of the Bureau since 1995. Prior to becoming Director, he served in a number of other capacities at BEA including Deputy Director and Associate Director for International Economics. He has led a number of pioneering statistical and management initiatives that have been recognized nationally and internationally.
Before joining BEA, he served as Chief of Staff for the President's Council of Economic Advisers. He has authored numerous professional articles and has received many national and international awards for his work including the President's Distinguished Executive Award. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Maryland.
