On Tuesday, February 17, Hampden-Sydney College will host an opening reception for the mixed-media art exhibit entitled "Mise en scène". The exhibit will feature paintings, drawings, and sculptures by Jonathan D. Metzger, Visiting Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, and Allison Wegren-Metzger.
Jonathan graduated from Viterbo University with a B.F.A. and went on to pursue his M.F.A. at the University of Kansas. Since graduating from KU in 2013, he has been teaching all levels of painting, drawing, and printmaking at various institutions around the country. Metzger has exhibited his work both nationally and internationally, and his works are in numerous collections around the country including: Purdue University, University of North Texas, Frogman's Print and Paper Workshop, and Millsaps College.
Allison received her B.A. from Macalester College and her M.F.A. from the University of Kansas. She has taught art at the University of Kansas and the Belvoir Terrace summer camp. She was also the recipient of Doris Fair Carey Scholarship, School of the Arts, Student Travel Grant, and the Richard P. Nadeau Memorial Award.
The opening reception begins at 4:00 PM in the Atkinson Museum and is free and open to the community. This exhibit will be featured until March 20th and is co-sponsored by the Fine Arts Department and the Atkinson Museum.
