January 05, 2016
Dear Hampden-Sydney Community,
Let me start by wishing you a Happy New Year. I am excited about the possibilities for our College as we head into 2016. As you know, there is now a world of disruption in higher education. However, we on the Board see this time as a golden opportunity to advance and strengthen the mission of Hampden-Sydney to form good men and good citizens. I look forward to your joining us in this.
One of our greatest opportunities is the hiring of the next president. Over the next few days, the search committee will start reviewing the applications of candidates. We will then meet in the middle of the month to narrow the pool down to 10 or so. At the end of the month, we will personally interview these candidates with the goal of reducing the number to three, who will then participate in more intensive interviews with a broader group of constituents.
As I have mentioned in the past, this will be a confidential interview process. Consequently, I will have little to report to you over the next month or so. However, please rest assured that the search committee appreciates the importance of our work and that we will be going about it diligently.
Thank you for all you do for Hampden-Sydney College.
