President Howard Retires from United States Air Force

On November 11, President Chris Howard recieved his retirement orders from the United States Air Force. Dr. Howard served with distinction for 21 years in the Air Force and received a Bronze Star for his service in Afghanistan.  Former Hampden-Sydney President General Josiah Bunting presented Dr. Howard with his retirement orders, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chuck McPhillips presented Dr. Howard with a U.S. flag on behalf of the Board of Trustees. Joining Dr. Howard, General Bunting, and Mr. McPhillips were representatives from all four branches of the U.S. Military: Col. Rod Lewis, USAF; Col. Chris Hughes '88, USMC; Capt. Clay Harris '82, USN, Retired; and Lt. Col Mark Thomson, US Army. The men were applauded for their service and saluted by a twin T-6 flyover before the Tigers kicked off against Randolph Macon in The Game.
