Steve McDavid, the President of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation, visited Hampden-Sydney on Thursday, April 26. The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation was not named directly for H-SC's namesake, Algernon Sydney. It is named after Mr. Sullivan who was named for that same Algernon Sydney.
The Sullivan Foundation was created in 1930 to honor young men and women who show remarkable character and integrity, and who demonstrate a commitment to service to others. The Foundation provides scholarships to rising juniors at 31 colleges and universities.
Mr. McDavid was on campus with the Foundation's Board for their semi-annual trustee meeting, hosted by Hampden-Sydney.
At Final Convocation on April 26, Frederick L. Antoine '14 received the Sullivan Scholarship.
