President Howard Participates in West Point Leadership Conference

On October 4th President Howard traveled to the United States Military Academy at West Point to take part in the first annual West Point Cadet Leadership Conference hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Bob McDonald. Mr. McDonald is the CEO of Proctor & Gamble and was awarded an honorary Hampden-Sydney degree in 2010. Accompanying Dr. Howard were two of Hampden-Sydney's finest men, senior Student Court Chairman Alex Cartwright '13 and senior co-captain of the baseball team and Truman Scholar recipient Ryan Carter '13. Hampden-Sydney was one of thirty-three colleges and universities from across the globe represented and one of five liberal arts colleges at the conference. Among other institutions represented were Harvard, Yale, Duke, Stanford, University of Texas, Oxford College, Cambridge College, Williams, and Davidson.

President Howard participated as a senior fellow and was joined by eight other fellows including the CEO of American Express, President and CEO of the Red Cross, and the former President of Mexico.
