The Shelton Challenge at Hampden-Sydney College

 WHAT is the Shelton Leadership Challenge?

The Shelton Leadership Challenge at Hampden-Sydney College is a six-day summer residential experience where young men explore the cornerstones of values-based leadership - honesty, integrity, compassion, diversity, and social responsibility - through problem-solving and team-building activities, ropes courses, and service projects. The curriculum includes

  • Personal Leadership Assessment and Interpersonal Dynamics
  • Role of Values and Ethics in Leadership
  • Leadership Traits and Approaches
  • Teambuilding and Empowering Others
  • Civic and Social Responsibility
  • Goal Setting

Hampden-Sydney College, in cooperation with the Wilson Center for Leadership in the Public Interest and North Carolina State University, is offering the Shelton Leadership Challenge - June 25 through June 30, 2017 - to young men who want to become better leaders. 

WHEN: Sunday, June 25 - Friday, June 30, 2017

WHERE: Hampden-Sydney College campus, Hampden-Sydney Virginia

WHO: young men entering 10th, 11th & 12th grades with 3.0 grade point average or higher

COST: $600 for the week*; includes room and board and all on- and off-campus activities

APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1, 2017

TO APPLY: Complete and submit application, 2 letters of reference, and $100 deposit

*Total payment, including a deposit of $100, is $600. Refunds are provided up to one month prior to program (May 28).
