Constitution Hampden-Sydney College Republicans


ARTICLE I

The name of this organization shall be the Hampden-Sydney College Republicans, hereafter referred to as "the Club".

ARTICLE II

The purpose of the Club shall be to make known and promote the principles of the Republican Party among the students at Hampden-Sydney College, to recruit Hampden-Sydney students as members of the Republican Party, to aid in the election of Republican candidates at all levels of government, and to develop political skills and leadership abilities among Republican students as preparation for future service by them to the party, to conservative ideals, and to the community.

ARTICLE III

SECTION 1. The officers of the Club shall be a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer.

SECTION 2. The offices of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer shall be elected by the Club at the third regular meeting of the fall semester.

SECTION 3. The Executive Committee shall consist of the Chairman (who shall be the presiding officer), Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer.

SECTION 4. Nominations of candidates shall be made from the floor by any member of the Club in good standing. Good standing constitutes those members who have attended at least one meeting prior to the nominations, have paid their dues (if collected during that certain academic year), and are registered with the Secretary as members of the Club.

SECTION 5. Dues shall be collected from time to time as deemed necessary by the Executive Committee. A flat fee of no more than five dollars per member, per academic year, shall be the maximum amount for dues to be set.

This section is superseded by the Student Government's general call for club elections, which occurs near the end of each academic year.
