The Acousticals puts a fun twist on performing a capella music. The group performs "Rockapella" style music using just their voices as instruments in a style all their own at H-SC. This exciting, goofy group performs vocal spectacles from the genres of hip-hop, country, pop, rap, contemporary, and classics-using beat boxing, face melting guitar fills, and even a bit of dancing (to woo the girls of course...). The group travels to other colleges, as well as performs every semester here on The Hill.
Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester, so if you love to sing and you have a naturally energetic disposition, this group is for you.
The Hampden-Sydney Men's Chorus is one of the oldest official student organizations on campus. Its roots can be traced back to the 1820s. Membership is open to any student interested in choral singing. Members of the chorus earn one hour of academic credit for each semester in which they are enrolled. The repertoire for the Chorus is varied, and includes traditional "Glee Club" style sea shanties and school songs, as well as classical and folk music.
To participate, contact Professor von Rueden, Director of Choral Activities.
The Animation Society is a student led organization which is dedicated to the group enjoyment of animation. The Society's main focus on campus is not only to have fun while watching animation together but also to educate the community of Hampden-Sydney College that animation is for all ages. The club views cell-based and CGI animation from across the globe. Though our main focus is on Japanese anime, our club also inspects animation of other cultures: be they French, German, or American.
The Animation Society provides an alcohol-free environment in which students can learn about animation, and enjoy time spent with other like-minded individuals.
The Hampden-Sydney Film Club is dedicated to those students who are passionate about films and film-making.
The dramatics club at Hampden-Sydney, the Jongleurs, works in coordination with the Department of Fine Arts. It seeks, through an active dramatics program, to allow development and expression in all aspects of the theatrical arts. The Fine Arts Department and the Jongleurs will mount a full production season, including full-length and one-act plays, providing opportunities to pursue interests in virtually every aspect of theatre from producing to acting, directing, playwriting, and design.

The Hampden-Sydney College Music Interest Club (MIC) was created in 2012 so that students interested in the music industry could talk about life as a career musician or music business professional with a mission to "foster meaningful relationships within the Hampden-Sydney community." The club hosts regular events and concerts.
The Tiger Pep Band was reorganized in 1998 to primarily enhance spirit and involvement at Hampden-Sydney basketball games. The Pep Band provides a musical and an enthusiastic service to the College community each time it plays at home and away basketball games. This group requires some travel to off-campus events, including tournaments.
The Tiger Pep Band's membership is open to any student with an instrumental background.
