Constitution of the Hampden-Sydney Anglers
ARTICLE I
NAME
The name of this organization shall be Hampden Sydney Anglers
ARTICLE II
PURPOSE
The purpose(s) of this organization shall be to introduce, educate, and promote the sport of fishing within the Hampden-Sydney College student community. To gain the recognition of fishing as a college sport. To encourage each member to succeed and become a better fishermen through fellowship and experience. To promote conservation of our waterways and wildlife.
ARTICLE III
MEMBERSHIP
Membership is restricted to all currently enrolled student of Hampden-Sydney College
Section 1: Joining the Hampden-Sydney Anglers
1. A person is a member in good standing when he or she is in attendance at Hampden-Sydney College on and off campus.
2. The rights of voting and holding an office are reserved for club members only.
3. Maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher
4. Be a member of B.A.S.S. (Bass Anglers Sportsman's Society)
5. Most importantly, have a Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Freshwater Fishing License
Section 2: Number of Members
The club shall have a minimum of 5 active members
Section 3: Membership Status
In order to maintain active member status, a member must attend 50% of all club functions, including outings, meetings, community service, etc. Failure to attend 50% will result in a semester expulsion from the club
Section 4: Membership Dues
The membership dues shall be set at $45 annually. Failure to pay will result in a late fee
ARTICLE IV
OFFICERS
The officers shall be decided by a club vote once every two semesters (once a year).
Section 1: Club Structure
President
- Official leader of the club, yet has no right to make decisions without voice of club
- Works with rest of leadership positions to come up with ideas for club meetings, trips, community service opportunities, etc.
- Helps promote organization
- sets example for members to follow
Vice President
- Second in authority to president, must take place of president if he is unable to attend a meeting. Therefore, the vice president must be aware of the duties of president
- Works with rest of leadership positions to come up with ideas for club meetings, trips, community service opportunities, etc.

Treasurer
- In charge of club funds
- Maintain accurate club financial records and statements
- Works with rest of leadership positions to come up with ideas for club meetings, trips, community service opportunities, etc.

- Reports at all club meetings
Secretary
- writes formal letters
- Records accurate minutes at all club meetings
- writes an article on each outing: successes, which lures worked best, etc.
Historian
- collects memories in the form of pictures throughout semesters
Section 2: Eligibility for Office
To be eligible for office, a member must:
1. Be an active member and in good standing at Hampden-Sydney College
2. Have attended ¾ all meetings and functions
3. Show he is supportive of the organization
4. Be a member for a minimum of a semester
Section 3: Vacancies
If an office is to become vacant for any reason, nominations shall be taken and an election shall be held to fill in the remainder of the term a member vacated from office
ARTICLE V
Meetings
Section 1: Dates
Regular meetings shall be held once every two weeks on a date to be decided by the club depending upon schedules.
Section 2: Special Meetings
Special meetings may be called by the President of Vice to discuss important business or information
Article VI
Special Relationship
The Hampden-Sydney Anglers will be affiliated with B.A.S.S. Federation Nation
Article VII
Amendments
The constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the organization with a two-thirds vote. Amendment must be submitted at the previous club meeting.
Article VIII
By-Laws
By-Laws to this constitution may be added at any regular meeting with a two-thirds vote. Additions to the By-Laws must be submitted at the previous club meeting.
