Constitution of Fly Fishing Club


Purpose

The goal of the Fly Fishing Club of Hampden-Sydney College is to foster and maintain an active community of fly fisherman on the campus of the College.

The club will provide equipment and lessons to any person that approaches a club member with an interest in learning to fly-fish. The club will organize various trips, service projects, and or fly tying and casting clinics through out the semester.

Article I. Membership

The Club is open to all members of the Hampden-Sydney College community who have an interest or passion in the sport of fly-fishing.

Article II. Dues

Club dues are to be determined at the beginning of every fall semester by the club officers. The officers have the right to waive dues to any member.

Article III. Officers

The club will have two officers, a president and vice president.

The president is elected at the end of every spring semester. There will be no limits on the number of semesters a person may serve as the president.

The main functions of the president are:

a. to organize and lead meetings,

b. to set dates for club trips,

c. to collect and deposit dues,

d. to coordinate events with other clubs,

e, and to act as the club representative.

The vice president is elected at the end of the spring semester. There will be no limits on the number of semesters a person may serve as vice president.  The main functions of the vice president are:

a, to organize the clubs trips,

b. and to aid the president in any way.

In the event that the president is no longer able or willing to fulfill his duties, the vice president my take over the role of the president and appoint a new vice president. The vice president must have the approval of the advisor and two thirds of the club before assuming leadership from the president.
