There is plenty to do with your hard-earned down-time. There are several women's colleges within a two-hour radius of Hampden-Sydney, as well as many other colleges and universities. Eight social fraternities and one professional fraternity offer plenty of weekend socializing and events. Hampden-Sydney regularly welcomes visitors and friends to concerts, formal dances, and athletic events throughout the year.

Residence Life

Depending on whether you prefer historic dormitory-style housing or a more independent lifestyle, you can choose traditional double-occupancy rooms or select from a number of alternatives, including suite-style apartments and college-owned cottages and houses.

Dining

The Commons offers a variety of cuisines and features amenities such as a fire brick oven, build-your-own salads and sandwiches, a fresh orange juice squeezer, and an open hibachi grill. If you prefer a "grill-style" dining experience, the Tiger Inn offers a relaxed atmosphere including leather couches, flat-screen televisions, and pool and ping pong tables.

Activities

There are plenty of opportunities for the well-rounded guy including more than 70 student-run clubs and organizations. Leaders can sharpen their skills in student government, formal leadership programs and other campus-wide opportunities.

Sports and Recreation
