Thanks for visiting the Student Life pages. As Assistant Dean of Students and Director of First and Second Year Programs I'm focused on ensuring that we, as a College and a community, understand the challenges and achievements our students encounter as they transition to college.  I believe that encouraging students to consider their calling, or passions, early and often during their four years here contributes to meaningful engagement in their education and communities.  At Hampden-Sydney College, we're proud to provide you with excellent transition programs and resources not only during your first few weeks, but also throughout your first four semesters.

My responsibilities also include the oversight of our student clubs and organizations which means I'm often able to help students connect with a group that shares one of their personal interests.  Additionally, I'm eager to work with students seeking to establish a new club when they have an interest or idea that is not already represented on campus.

I loved Hampden-Sydney as a student and after spending several years finding my way in the "real world," I'm thrilled to be back on campus to help our students develop the skills and gain the experience they'll need to find their own ways after graduation. I stand by our slogan, "You can do anything with a degree from Hampden-Sydney," and I take pride in empowering our gentlemen to demonstrate they can also do anything while still a student. Our 'student-centric' approach to education and extracurricular activities provides leadership opportunities galore for students from all walks of life.

So, go on. Have a thorough look at the Student Life pages. Make sure you have a chance to discover all the opportunities available to you at Hampden-Sydney College. Getting involved is a great way to meet new friends, learn new things, and develop communication and leadership skills that will serve you throughout your lifetime.  Whether you're just beginning your college search, or already starting your senior year at The Hill, I encourage you to get in touch with me so we can find a place for you to leave an indelible mark in the history and traditions of our fine institution.  Call or stop by my office and we'll get you started today.
