The Outdoor Options program at Hampden-Sydney provides hiking, climbing, and paddling equipment for students to check out.

Ducks Unlimited typically hosts an annual hunting trip and organizes an annual dinner to raise support for national conservation efforts. Members also volunteer to clean up lakes on campus.

Students enjoy fly-fishing at Chalgrove Pond.

Hampden-Sydney's Angler team has won several collegiate tournaments and placed third in the National Guard FLW College Fishing Tour.

The Beyond the Hill program sponsors service trips to the Caribbean basin. On recent trips students have helped build a maternity ward in Belize, a hospital in Honduras, and concrete floors for homes and latrines in the Dominican Republic.

World-renowned fly-fishing instructor Harry Robertson visits Hampden-Sydney every semester for fly-fishing and casting clinics and occasionally guides student trips to prime fishing locations around the country.
