The Beyond the Hill program sponsors service trips to the Caribbean basin. On recent trips students have helped build a maternity ward in Belize, a hospital in Honduras, and concrete floors for homes and latrines in the Dominican Republic.

World-renowned fly-fishing instructor Harry Robertson visits Hampden-Sydney every semester for fly-fishing and casting clinics and occasionally guides student trips to prime fishing locations around the country.
