The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations of Jacksonville, Florida, have awarded Hampden-Sydney a grant of $250,000 to support the College's "active learning project" to convert a number of classrooms into improved learning environments.
Conversions will include the replacement and a more flexible configuration of furnishings, better engineered wall and ceiling treatments, and upgrades to existing technology. Such improvements will allow for more interactive and collaborative work among faculty and students and be more conducive to small group interaction.
The work is expected to be completed by the fall semester of 2013.
