Harvey Morgan Award

Garth Patterson and Jason Bart, the 2007 recipients of the Morgan Award, stand with Harvey Morgan '52
and Morgan's grandson Jake Vail.
In tribute to Harvey B. Morgan '52 and his life of public service, his wife Mary Helen established an award in his honor at Hampden-Sydney College in May of 2000.
The Morgan award is presented each spring to a senior who has completed all the requirements of the Public Service Certificate Program at Hampden-Sydney College, and who intends to pursue a public service career.
Morgan, a native of Gloucester and a retired pharmacist, has been representative for the 98th District in the House of Delegates since 1980. The Morgans live in Saluda, VA.
Mrs. Morgan worked with the Wilson Center for Leadership to create the award without Morgan's knowledge, until its unveiling at at the spring 2000 annual Public Service Awards Presentation.
