Patrick Henry Public Service Awards 1996-2000

Dr. Marion looks on as Del. Harvey B. Morgan '52 presents the 2000 Patrick Henry Public Service Award to President Wilson.
The first Patrick Henry Public Service Awards were first presented in 1996, and have been given annually since that time. Recipients of this award are H-SC alumni whose lives have been distinguished by their dedication to public service.

The sole recipient of the 2000 Patrick Henry Public Service award was Lt. General Samuel Vaughan Wilson, who was about to retire as President of Hampden-Sydney College. Although not officially a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, he is the recipient of two honorary degrees from H-SC.

1999
           
In 1999, three alumni received Patrick Henry Public Service Awards. They were (l to r)
Stewart Bell, Jr. '31, Ernest T. Thompson, Jr. '54 (at left with his wife Jackie,
and his aunt and uncle Leila and Dr. Graves H. Thompson '27) and J. Robert Bray '60.
 
1998
The recipients of the 1998 Patrick Henry Public Service awards were
William P. Hay '42, Joseph A. Leafe '58, and William T. Wilson '60.
