Patrick Henry Public Service Awards 2002

Once again, a highlight for the year at the Wilson Center for Leadership was the presentation of the Patrick Henry Public Service Awards. These awards, given annually to H-SC alumni whose lives have been distinguished by their dedication to public service were given on Friday, May 3, 2002 at the conclusion of the spring banquet.

The 2002 Patrick Henry Public Service award recipients were all alumni who had distinguished judicial careers: D. Carleton Mayes '36, Dinwiddie, VA; Ernest P. Gates, Sr. '45, Chesterfield, VA; and Jere M. H. Willis, Jr. '54, Fredericksburg, VA.

They were guests of honor at the banquet which was also attended by their spouses and/or family members,Wilson Center staff and Advisory Board members, Pres. and Mrs. Bortz, and both junior and senior Public Service Certificate Program students.
