On April 20, the seniors in the Military Leadership/National Security Studies Certificate Program were recognized at the annual Wilson Center Awards banquet. This event has been traditionally a highlight of the year for the Wilson Center, a time to recognize accomplishments of both alumni in public service and the seniors of the Military Leadership/National Security Studies and Public Service Certificate Programs.
The program, initiated in 2005, has been under the direction of Dr. James Simms. The 2007 banquet honored the second group of outstanding young men to complete the Military Leadership/National Security Studies Certificate Program. This years' certificate recipients were:
Ryan Paul Alexander, a Political Science major, who planned to be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army upon graduation.
William G. Kammerer III,an Economics major, who planned to attend the United States Air Force Flight School in order to become a fighter pilot.
Kieran J. Kobell (absent), an Economics major and head resident advisor, who participated in the US Marine corps Primary Leadership course over the past two summers at Quantico, and planned to becommissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps.
Thomas Carter Smith, a Political Science major, who planned to become an In-House Recruiter for TEKSystems, in their Reston, Virginia office.
