Alex Cartwright '13 was recently published in The Intercollediate Review

Omicron Delta Kappa inititated 12 new members on October 28, 2012.  Congratulations to Richard Michael Pantele '13, Alex Tyler Price '13 and Joshua Lee Shelton '13 who are declared minors in the Wilson Center programs.  Richard is minoring in Public Service and Alex and Josh are minoring in Military Leadership.

Chris Stirewalt '97 is digital politics editor for Fox News. Chris recently appeared on Fox News with Megyn Kelly to discuss the current budget concerns.  He is wearing a Hampden-Sydney Tie






Michael W. Server '03 has ben promoted to major in the U.S. Army.  After serving two tours in Iraq as a Black Hawk helicoptior pilot, he is assigned to Fort Irwin, CA.  He is planning to attend the Naval War College in Rhode Island.

Curtis D. Colgate '01, a member of the Board of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, was a delegate at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL.

Braxton Naff ' 99 has been re-appointed as a commissioner on the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission, which serves the 5th planning District of Virginia.

Rod O'Connor '92 has been named Executive Vice President, Europe for AEGWorldwide.

Mac Freeman '89 is now Senior Vice President of Business for the Denver Broncos.  Mac is also president of the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse.

Steven Riddle'89 has moved to London, England, from Moscow, Russia.  He works for Ernst & Young's tax division leading business development across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa.

John Maloney '88 is running as an independent for the House of Delegates in the 68th District (City of Richmond, Henrico and Chesterfield Counties).

Maurice Jones '86 was the recipient of the 2012 Medical Diplomat Award given by Physicians for Peace.  He is the deputy secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Herbert H Bateman '80 was elected vice mayor of Newport News.  Batemen is also senior vice president and commercial banker with TowneBank.

I. Benjamin Watson III '71 has been elected chairman of the Board of Directors of the Grand Foundation, which provides philanthropic support to non-profit organizations in the Grand County, CO.

David Laird, Jr '62 has been elected to a second term as chairman of the Seventh Judidical District Community Corrections Board and has been appointed to the Seventh Judicial District Drug Offender Treatment Board in Colorado.

Scott Clayton '13 completed his summer internship with Exelon Energy Corporation's renewable energy in Iowa. He is published in the August newsletter. excerpt from EnvironmentalNow.

Nah Min Oo '12 has been accepted into the IDEX Fellowship in Social Enterprises. He is now working as an associate at Gray Matters Capital in Hyderabad. GMC is a start-up social enterprise which provides ratings and evaluations for Affordable Private Schools in India. The company's goal is to improve the quality of education for children from lower- to lower-middle income families while sustaining itself financially at the same time - unlike most non-profit organizations.

Thomas Calderwood '12  is working as a policy analyst for Logistics Management Issue.  He is located at the DLA headquarters in Fort Belvoir for the Joint Contingency Acquisition Support Office. 

Douglas Vermilya '11 is a scientist with the Department of the Navy stationed at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division.

Mac McKinney '11 is working in the office of U. S. Congresswoman Renee Ellmers of North Carolina's 2nd District.

Cameron Auker '11 is a systems engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Dahlgren Laboratories.

Robert Murray '10 has report to Naval Officers Candidate School in Newport, RI.  He plans to continue his training with the Navy Seal Team in California.

James Hoffman '10 recently completed the inaugural Emerging Leaders Program at The Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at The University of Virginia.  The program is a one-month leadership development program for young residents of Virginia who have worked in state government and are interested in becoming more active in public service and public policy, whether as community leaders or as elected or appointed officials in the executive or legislative branches. Participation in this pilot program helps train public policy and political leaders in the Commonwealth. James is currently a registered lobbyist with Davis Consultants, Inc. in Richmond.

James Hoffman '10 has joined Davis Consultants in Richmond as a registered lobbyist.

Ryan Haywood '10 has been appointed to the Gloucester County Library Board of Trustees.

Matthew Compton '10 is the Pamlico Sea Base Director for the Boy Scouts of America in Washington, NC.

John Louis '09 earned his master's degree in political science from Boston College in May 2012.

Edward Savage '09 is an AmeriCorps volunteer with East End Main Street in the historic district of Charleston, WV.

Spc. William Joeckel '09 has been deployed to Iraq with the US Army's 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.

Samuel Rosten '09 is clerking for Judge Bruggink on the Court of Federal Claims.  He was fortunate to see an oral argument in front of the Supreme Court recently

Trey Keeler '08 has been accepted to graduate school at the VCU Brandcenter to study Creative Brand Management.

Phillip Miskovic '08 has been elected to the Town Council in Crewe.

Jeremy Forrest '08 is a legal assistant with the law firm of Kristina Beavers in Yorktown.

Wesley Julian '08 is a media relations coordinator for the Information Center at the Consulate General of Japan in Chicago.

Eric Lewis '08 teaches English and social studies to special needs high schoolers in Brooklyn, New York.

Glen J. Carter '08 has been awarded a 2012-13 Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship for studies abroad to the University of Hong Kong.

William Kammerer '07 has been accepted to the US Air Force Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training program in Columbus, MD and will begin in March 2013.

Lt. Larry Greene '07 is with the US Marine Corps and has been deployed to Afghanistan.

Andrew D. Baker '07 was recognized as one of Henrico County, Virginia's top teachers.

Cpt. Ryan Alexander '07 has been selected to join the US Army's 3rd Infantry Regiment, "The Old Guard."  He will take command of a platoon at Ft. Myers, VA.

Matt Strader '07 is Governor McDonnell's Assistant Secretary of Transportation. His duties include being the legislative liaison for Transportation to the General Assembly.

Cpt. Zachary Wasmer '06 has been deployed to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan.

Philip Land '06 has passed the bar in SC and is working for Senator Lindsey Graham as his representative in the Piedmont region.

Christian Basel '06 graduated from the SC Criminal Justice Academy in December and received his commission as a State Trooper.

John Axsom '05 reports that twenty-two members of the Axsom Martial Arts dojo of Newport News brought home 55 medals from the AAU State Karate Championships April 14 in Richmond. John Axsom '05 Receives Gammon Medallion On Saturday, May 5, 2012, during the Young Founders Dinner and Celebration at The Commonwealth Club in Richmond, VA, John received the Gammon Medallion in recognition for his volunteer service to the College.

Victor Primov '03 is now a Senior Analyst at Shell's United Kingdom headquarters

Demas E. Boudreaux '02 was admitted to the Political Leaders Program of the Sorenson Institute for Political Leadership at UVA.

Lt. Jason Ritchie '02 recently completed a five-month deployment to the US Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethioipia, where he served as a regional analyst in the Defense Attache' Office.

Robert Harper '01 is working for the Commissioner of Transportation and the University of Alaska in a joint position with the Alaska University Transportation Center as a Communication Specialist.

Thomas L. Ransom '00 was named a 2012 Minority Business Leader by the The Washington Business Jounral.  Thomas is currently an executive for BB&T.

Dr. Eric Sands '97 has been granted tenure and promote to associate professor of government at Berry College in Georgia.

Matt Michael '95 was named as Division Counsel to three divisions of the 3M Company - Defense Markets Division, Security Services Division and Building & Commercial Services Division.

Tucker Shumack '95 has launched a new tax firm, GDS Strategies in Washington, DC.

Alex McGhee '94 is a managing director in the Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs practice, where he focuses on federal government affairs. He uses over 20 years experience in the public and private sectors to provide clients with critical federal public policy and advocacy counsel.  Alex is in the Washington, DC office.

James Spencer Culp '94 has accepted a New Hampshire Public Service Fellowship and will be representing the state in the civil litigation bureau in the Office of the Attorney General.

Bartow Morgan, Jr '94 receivd the 2012 Public Service Award from the Gwinnett, GA Chamber of Commerce.

Major, Brian Von Herbulis '94 was recently awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his incredible work with the 1st Marine Special Operation Battalion Delta Company. During his six years at 1st MSOB, Brian served as the Company Commander of Delta and Charlie Companies as well as the Operations Officer, Executive Officer and the Remain Behind Officer in Charge of the entire battalion.  The award addresses the work he did specifically as the Company Commander of Delta Company. 

John J. Regan '93 was elected Manhasset Park District Commission.  He is a managing director with Cantor Fitzgerald in New York.

The Hon. Sage Johnson '92 has been elected to the Virginia House of Delegates to an eight-year term as a judge of the 28th Judicial Circuit.

G. William Norris, Jr. '92 has been appointed to the Capital Region Workforce Investment Board.  Bill is a director with the Richmond law firm of DuretteCrump, PLC.

Dr. R. Reed Skaggs '92 is a senior policy analyst working for the National Security & International Affairs Division of the Office of Science and Techonology Policy at the White House.

Robert L. Montgomery '91 has been promoted to element leader, Natural and Cultural Resources Mangement for the Fourth Fighter Wing, Civil Engineering Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, NC.

Frank Jones '90 received "The Cornelius Award" by the Arms Around Communities organization in Harrisburg, PA.

Stacy Adams '89 is an Assistant District Attorney with the Morgan County AG's office in Alabama.

Ltc Patrick Howard '88 is deployed to Afghanistan with the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.  He serves as the chief of the Maiwand District Stability Transition Team and advisor to the governor of Maiwand District, Kandahar Province.

Col. Charles Webb '78 (USAR Retired) has been selected by the Manatee County Bar Association as it president elect.

Michael Miller '73 has retired after 39 years with the federal government in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

William Marshall '73 has retired from the National Security Administration and is Managing Director at The Chertoff Group.

Joseph T. Samuels '72 has been elected to the Board of Equine Land Conservation Resource in Charlottesville, VA.

Col. John Barker '71 of the US Army Dental Corps served from September to December 2011, with the 673rd Dental Company in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Lt. Col Allen Hazelgrover '67 is chief of plans and programs for the Air Force Training Center at Joint Base Langley-Eustis.

James E. Haley '60 has published a book, Row Well and Live, a spy thriller set in Washington, DC in the 1960s.

R. Tyler Whitley '59 has been inducted into the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame for 2012.

Dr. John W. Bailey, Jr. '59 has published The Accidential Soldier, a historical novel based on events during WWII.
