RAY N. KLEINLEIN, VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF FINE ARTS

RECENTLY Visiting Assistant Professor of Fine Arts Ray N. Kleinlein has exhibited his paintings in several one-man and group shows, including at the Christa Faut Gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Perry Nicole Gallery in Memphis, Tennessee, the Keny Gallery in Columbus, Ohio, the Crossnore Gallery in Crossnore, North Carolina, and the Atkinson Museum at Hampden-Sydney. His paintings have also been selected for auctions at the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (LCVA) at nearby Longwood University. Kleinlein’s work was reviewed in the Columbus Dispatch in 2006 and the Chattanooga Times in 2007. Reproductions appeared in those publications, as well as on the cover of the Ohio State University’s literary magazine, The Journal.

Kleinlein serves on the Membership Committee of LCVA, and he was recently asked to serve as judge for the Lynchburg Academy of Fine Art’s Batteau Art Festival. He also served on a panel, “Influence of Joseph Albers on Contemporary Artists,” at the Atkinson Museum in connection with the Museum’s fall exhibition of the work of Joseph Albers, pioneering 20th-century artist/theorist and art historian; the traveling exhibition is from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The moderator was Lecturer in Fine Arts Mary A. Prevo, and the other panelist was Beverly Rhoads of Lynchburg College.

There was another one-man show of Kleinlein’s work at the Atkinson Museum in the fall, and in April he will have a show at the Christa Faut Gallery.

Kleinlein began teaching at the College in the fall, and he received his B.A. from Ohio State University and his M.F.A. from Ohio University.
