RAY N. KLEINLEIN, VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF FINE ARTS
RECENTLY Visiting Assistant Professor of
Fine Arts Ray N. Kleinlein has exhibited
his paintings in several one-man and group
shows, including at the Christa Faut Gallery
in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Perry Nicole
Gallery in Memphis, Tennessee, the Keny
Gallery in Columbus, Ohio, the Crossnore
Gallery in Crossnore, North Carolina, and the
Atkinson Museum at Hampden-Sydney. His
paintings have also been selected for auctions
at the Hunter Museum of American Art in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the Longwood
Center for the Visual Arts (LCVA) at nearby
Longwood University. Kleinlein’s work was
reviewed in the Columbus Dispatch in 2006 and
the Chattanooga Times in 2007. Reproductions
appeared in those publications, as well as on
the cover of the Ohio State University’s literary
magazine, The Journal.
Kleinlein serves on the Membership
Committee of LCVA, and he was recently asked
to serve as judge for the Lynchburg Academy
of Fine Art’s Batteau Art Festival. He also
served on a panel, “Influence of Joseph Albers
on Contemporary Artists,” at the Atkinson
Museum in connection with the Museum’s
fall exhibition of the work of Joseph Albers,
pioneering 20th-century artist/theorist and art
historian; the traveling exhibition is from the
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The
moderator was Lecturer in Fine
Arts Mary A. Prevo, and the other
panelist was Beverly Rhoads of
Lynchburg College.
There was another one-man
show of Kleinlein’s work at the
Atkinson Museum in the fall, and
in April he will have a show at the
Christa Faut Gallery.
Kleinlein began teaching at
the College in the fall, and he
received his B.A. from Ohio State
University and his M.F.A. from
Ohio University.
