HONORS SCHOLARSHIPS ADVANTAGES
Honors Scholar

Hampden-Sydney is proud that fifteen percent of its students are Honors Scholars, young men whom we recognize for distinguished achievement in secondary school and for their promise of successful careers both in college and in life. We award Honors Scholarships in four categories. Stipends vary, but all four categories provide a scholarship to meet the recipient's college-determined need.

For such men, Hampden-Sydney has created its Honors Program, which gives Honors Scholars unusual latitude for intellectual challenge and independent study, broadening their perspective and complementing their formal academic pursuits. Special courses for Honors Scholars boost curricular breadth. Honors Scholars also receive tickets and transportation to attend plays, concerts, and other performances in Richmond. On campus, Honors Scholars frequently have dinner with visiting dignitaries and are invited to special colloquia; they may themselves hold symposia for other honors students in the region. In addition, Honors Scholars from Hampden-Sydney may participate in classes at women's colleges in the region or attend the annual conventions of the Virginia Collegiate Honors Council.

To be considered for any honors scholarship, all candidates must apply for admission to the College, through the Admissions Office.
