DURING HIS recent sabbatical leave,
Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy
Steven D. Bloom was a Visiting Scientist at
the National Radio Astronomy Observatory
in Charlottesville, Virginia. He has been
appointed to the American Astronomical
Society’s Committee on Light Pollution, Radio
Interference and Space Debris, and at the
College’s Final Convocation in 2007, he received
the John Peter Mettauer Award for Excellence in
Research. Bloom was promoted to the rank of
associate professor in 2006. After receiving his
B.A. from Columbia University and his Ph.D.
from Boston University, he began teaching at
the College in 1999.
